PSMUN - CLARION 2023

On the 9th and 10th of November, the school organised the Xth Edition of Clarion PSMUN". We hosted over 325 students from 25+ schools across the city. Ms. Zoe Swinson, Press Officer Diplomat of the US Consulate General graced the inaugurationfunction and spoke to the participants about the role played by MUN conferences in her career and urged the students to move out of their comfort zones.

The delegates discussed wide ranging topics of international importance, starting from the Cuban Missile crisis in the UNSC Committee, Gun rights in the United States Senate and evenhad a simulation of the upcoming 2024 elections.

One of the key attractions of the Conference was the introduction of the G20 committee, making us the very first school to do so. Our valediction ceremony was made apt by the presence of Mr. T.S. Tirumurti, Former Permanent Representative of India to the United Nations. He gave out the awards and applauded the student’s efforts in organising the PSMUN’23. This was a fitting closure to the biggest edition of PS Model United Nations the school has ever seen!

MODEL UNITED NATIONS(Preparatory Workshop)

A preparatory workshop on Model United Nations (MUN) was organized by the alumni of the school. R. Vedanth and his team involving – Nachiappan, Adithya, Arun Ravi, Abhinav and Kannappan, for the students of Classes 8,9 & 10 on 1 st July, 2023. The team displayed meticulous planning in conducting the workshop. The pre-arranged their powerpoints to print outs flawlessly. They showed deep knowledge of various committees in the United Nations and the current problems across the globe. They trained students in public speaking and debating with a thrust on usage of language and professional etiquettes at United Nations meetings.

Today students are having the session as actual delegates of United Nations who are trained in critical thinking, team work and leadership. This workshop signs successful UN delegates from P.S. Senior School Mylapore at all Model United Nations.

Nearly 180 students are participating in the Model United Nations Program on 20/10/2022 and 21/10/2022.

2021 Clarion PSMUN’21, conducted on 10th/11th September. It was organised by students of classes 11 and 12 . With over 160 students participating from all over India,psmun’21,provided a platform for students to discuss and debate on issues happening around the world. It helped students build their three C’s-creativity, critical thinking, and confidence.

With 6 committees, UNSC, ECOFIN,DISEC,FSC,NHRC and IPC, the conference covered wide ranging agendas providing an opportunity for students to develop in their area of interest and expertise. In a nutshell, clarion psmun’21,gained a lot of positive feedback and appreciation for its quality, merit and grandeur.

2019 The Seventh edition of P.S.Model United Nations (P.S.MUN) was organized in our School on 24th and 25th October 2019.

His Excellency Mr. M. Sesha Sai, Hony. Consul for Republic of Seychelles inaugurated the function.

Shri M.R.Sivaraman,IAS Retd ,Former Secretary to Govt of India was the chief guest at the in the valedictory function.

2017 The P.S.Model United Nations (P.S.MUN) was organized by P.S.Senior Secondary School on 23rd and 24th October 2017. The event drew participation from over 200 delegates from city schools.

Mr. Satchidananda Valan Michael of the UNHCR inaugurated the function. Mr. Madhusudan Ganapathy, IFS (Retd), Former Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India was the chief guest at the in the valedictory function. Vishal Vasanth, CEO, Warhorse also an alumnus of the school was the Secretary General of this conference.Chettinad Vidyashram was adjudged as the best school.
